Halifax County Heritage Festival Scholarship Award

Halifax County Heritage Festival Committee announces that scholarship applications are now available in the Guidance Department at Halifax County High School and on line for the upcoming 2017 scholarship award.

The scholarship award program is administered by the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation for the Heritage Festival Committee.  The award is open to Halifax County High School seniors who plan to attend a 2 year or 4 year college, or technical school pursuing preparation for agriculture related or other technical/mechanical fields.

The Heritage Festival Committee has awarded 23 scholarships totaling $22,500 to Halifax County High School students since 2011, and $7,500 for the foundation’s teacher mini-grant program.  The Heritage Festival Committee is the second highest contributor to the mini-grant program.

The Heritage Festival Committee is dedicated to its mission of fostering a love for all things mechanical and preserving the county’s rich agricultural heritage while helping to educate future Halifax County leaders.  Heritage Festival Committee members Butch Blanks and Tom West serve as co-chairs of the committee’s scholarship program, and participate in scholarship applicant interviews and the selection process.

Scholarship applications are available in the Guidance Department at Halifax County High School and the STEM Academy Office in Halifax.  Applications are also available for printing on line at www.hcpsef.org or by clicking the link below.  The deadline is March 30, 2017.

The Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival is planned for May 5-7 at the Halifax County Fairgrounds and will feature Hit and Miss and Small Engines.
